Reflective Vs. Photoluminescent Signs

Technology used in the manufacturing of photoluminescent products is totally different from reflective materials. Reflective material reflects the light energy, which is transmitted from other external sources like roadside reflectors. Roadside reflectors reflect the light energy from the car headlights.

These reflective signs do not have any energy source or electrical supply; hence these are visible when another light source is used to illuminate them. This is the main reason that these are not best to use in emergency evacuation systems or in case of electrical power failure. Photoluminescent products made by Wayout Evacuation Systems work on the principle that crystals absorb Ultraviolet (UV) light energy from any UV light emitting sources like sunlight. As per this principle, the product continues to glow for hours until the absorbed energy is released.
